As a result of its activities in Finland, Van Aarsen came in contact with a group of broiler producers who had plans to start their own feed mill. After an intense pre-engineering stage, January 2008 Van Aarsen was awarded with the contract to build the new feed mill. 

In the mean time, the broiler producers had founded the company “Satarehu” to ensure a competitive edge and guarantee the best possible services to the owner-clients. Immediately a start was made with the civil works and in a tight schedule the complete feed mill was assembled. Early 2009 the first feed was produced in the new feed mill. The feed mill includes all facilities for optimal production of poultry feed

This new poultry feed plant is located in Vampula, which is very centrally located in terms of chicken production and surrounded by excellent grain farming areas. Satarehu feed company specializes in producing hygienic feed mixtures of high quality for efficient broiler production.


Raw materials intake pit with aspiration, suitable for back-tipping trucks. The intake capacity is 120 t/h and has an inline weighing system, magnet and rotary drum cleaning system.


Dosing silo’s (8 x 150 m³, 2 x 75 m³, 2 x 31 m³ and 2 x 50 m³ minerals silo’s = total approx. 1500 m³), an accurate dosing system consisting of a 2000 kg long bin scale and a 250 kg minerals scale. The dosing devices are a combination of grid-slides and frequency controlled screw conveyors. Micro ingredients dosing system for 8 components with a 100 kg scale.

Grinding & Mixing

A modern grinding and mixing line, equipped with the new Van Aarsen GD1400 (250 kW) high efficiency hammer mill and a single shaft MultiMix paddle mixer (stainless steel) for 2 ton batches.


The state of the art pelleting line starts with 2 press meal bins of 30 m³ each and is equipped with a Long Term Conditioner for optimal feed hygienisation. After conditioning the feed is pelleted in a Van Aarsen C900 pellet mill (250 kW) and cooled in a counter flow cooler. The cooling air is being filtered and conditioned to maintain the hygienic status of the feed.
Inside the building, space is reserved to extend the feed mill with a second pelleting line.

Finished feed

The finished feed can be stored in 12 silos of 60 m³ each. From those silos the feed can be filled into trucks by means of a movable conveyor system. Pellets will be de-dusted before delivery.


The entire process is controlled from the central control room by an advanced computerized control system.
